Hi, welcome to my website!! ^-^
Bio
I’m currently a PhD student in Computer Science at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), Leiden University, working under the wonderful guidance of Prof. Matthijs van Leeuwen and Dr. Saber Salehkaleybar as part of the Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) group. My research focuses on causal inference, with particular interests in causal effect identification and root causal analysis. I am broadly interested in statistics, optimization, machine learning, and graphical models.
Before starting my PhD, I earned my M.Sc. in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics – Machine Learning at the Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação (ICMC) at the University of São Paulo, under the amazing guidance of Dr. Andre Carlos Ponce de Leon Ferreira de Carvalho. I was also a master’s exchange student at the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University, where I had the privilege of being advised by Dr. Leila Wehbe.
I hold a degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of São Paulo, where I engaged in various research projects (more information here).
Publications
- Our paper, Explainable LightGBM Approach for Predicting Myocardial Infarction Mortality, was accepted into the 2023 International Conference on Computational Science and Computational Intelligence (CSCI)
Teaching Experience
I'm passionate about teaching and have served as a teaching assistant and tutor for several courses. At the University of São Paulo, I served as a graduate teaching assistant for courses in SME0860 - Machine Learning Applied to Problems SCC5809 - Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and SCC0651 - Image Processing and Analysis. I also taught Linear Algebra, Analytic Geometry, and Introduction to Robotics during my undergraduate years. Additionally, I mentored high school girls in Python programming through the Meninas Programadoras project.
